5th ANNUAL ASHENDON SPONSORED RIDE

Sunday 13th April 2008, Starting at 9.30am

Rules

• Individuals or groups will be started off at intervals. Groups not to exceed 5 riders.
• Riders will be allocated a start time and will be notified by post (and email where possible).
• Failure to be present at the start of the course at the allocated time will result in riders having to wait until the next available slot.
• Riders must register at the secretaries’ trailer on arrival. They will be allocated a number which must be worn and clearly visible at all times.
• Sponsorship money must be paid to the secretary on the day, prior to riding on the course.
• No horses or ponies under 4 years of age permitted.
• Riders under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
• Riders must wear a hard hat to current standards. Body protectors are recommended.
• There are 3 road crossings. Riders must cross only when instructed by the steward.
• Riders must not stray from the marked route.
• Dogs are not allowed to accompany riders. Spectators’ dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
• Please be courteous to other riders, and ride officials. Allow faster riders to overtake, and try to alert others if you intend to overtake.
• APFA reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event in the interests of safety for horse and rider.
• No liability for damage to person, horse, or property, howsoever caused, shall be accepted by the ride organisers.
Prizes
• All riders completing the course will be awarded a commemorative rosette.
• The rider raising the most sponsorship will receive a voucher to the value of £100 for Dennis’s Saddlery near Aylesbury.
• Further prizes will be awarded to the runner-up fund-raisers.

Conditions of entry

1. The Course: This ride comprises 13 miles across private farmland, woodland, old tram and railway lines, hills and valleys with no roadwork. The ride may be ridden in groups of up to 5 riders. The ride takes on average 2 – 2.5 hours to complete. This ride is NOT a race.
2. Entry Fee: Each rider pays an entry fee of £15 which includes paramedic cover. The fee is non-returnable, even in the unlikely event of the ride being cancelled. Entries close Saturday 5th April 2008.
3. Sponsorship: In addition to the entry fee, each rider must obtain a minimum of £15 in sponsorship, either through various sponsors or through their own contribution. All sponsorship must be paid prior to riding the course.
4. Disclaimer: Riders ride at their own risk. Horse riding is an inherently dangerous activity and all riders and adult escorts accept this risk. We recommend riders have their own insurance. The committee shall in no way be held responsible for any damage caused to any person, horse or property howsoever caused. The decision of the committee is final.
5. Entries: A S.A.E. must be sent with the entry fee and completed entry form. Cheques should be made payable to Ashendon Playing Fields Association. Riders will be notified by post (and email if address supplied) of their start times. Requests to ride together must be made at the time of entry and the names of all those riding together must be stated on the form. 6. Closing date: is Saturday 5th April 2008.
